planche-botanique-ancienne-cyrtanthe-oblique-redoute
Antique botanical plate of Cyrtanthus obliquus by Redouté

This reproduction features Cyrtanthus obliquus, a bulbous plant remarkable for its drooping flowers forming a natural umbrella. The illustration highlights the harmony of yellow and red hues on a sober cream background, typical of the plates of the era. The precision of Pierre-Joseph Redouté's drawing allows one to observe the graceful curvature of the peduncles and the linear structure of the leaves.

Originally published in 1827 in the collection Choix des plus belles fleurs, this plate testifies to the naturalists' interest in the flora of the Cape of Good Hope. Redouté demonstrates his talent for visually classifying species sometimes confused with the genera Crinum or Amaryllis. The graphic style combines the rigor of the herbarium and the aesthetics of the collector's print.

This study object is perfectly suited for lovers of exotic botany and the history of science. This reproduction allows one to rediscover the iconographic richness of the naturalistic expeditions of the last century, while retaining the charm of a classic artistic composition.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/4730/2989/files/planche-botanique-ancienne-cyrtanthe-oblique-redoute-42x59-4-cm-a2_ab714c04-920f-4aa9-8f87-a7713b6d4b4c.jpg?v=1790771378
