The illustration, extracted from the documentary corpus of David Roberts, highlights the urban landscape dominated by a slender minaret, surrounded by palm trees and a caravan of camels. The composition offers a rich perspective on local architecture and the atmosphere of the banks of the Nile in the 19th century, faithfully restoring the documentary ambiance of the era.

The original work is part of the Egypt and Nubia collection, the result of the exploratory journey undertaken by the artist in 1838. Roberts successfully captured topographical and ethnographic details with great precision, making this plate a precious testimony of scientific Orientalism. The precise line emphasizes the hierarchy between natural elements and human constructions in this chromatic study featuring sand and blue tones.

Intended for collectors and history enthusiasts, this reproduction of a naturalistic plate allows for the study of the evolution of Egyptian landscapes. It can be observed for its documentary value or integrated into a thematic set dedicated to major explorations. It is a contemplative object that restores the aesthetic rigor and iconographic value of the encyclopedic publications of the period.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/4730/2989/files/illustration-ancienne-siout-egypte-david-roberts-30x40-cm.jpg?v=1777638487
