The illustration highlights the distinctive characteristics of this palm native to New Granada, notably its spiny stipe and its fronds with truncated and toothed segments. The drawing underlines the contrast between the fineness of the fringed leaves and the robustness of the long spines, offering a precise reading of the vegetal architecture of this exotic species.

Created by P. De Pannemaker for Oswald de Kerchove de Denterghem's monograph in 1878, this engraving is part of the great tradition of Belgian horticultural illustration. The precision of the line and the fidelity of the hues testify to the scientific desire to inventory the species introduced into Europe in the 19th century. The work captures the spirit of the botanical expeditions of Jean Linden, who introduced this palm to European horticulturists as early as 1843.

This antique illustration is particularly suitable for the creation of a thematic decor inspired by winter gardens and tropical greenhouses. It is aimed both at botany enthusiasts and lovers of historical engravings seeking documents of great iconographic value. Exhibited alone or in a series, it allows appreciation of the complexity of plant forms and the rigorous aesthetics of scientific works from the last century.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/4730/2989/files/illustration-botanique-palmier-martinezia-lindeniana-42x59-4-cm-A2.jpg?v=1790774672
https://www.berticdesigns.fr/en/products/antique-illustration-of-the-martinezia-lindeniana-palm-by-de-pannemaker
