The scene, captured with documentary precision, highlights the colossal pylons and the surviving obelisk, surrounded by figures and camels that emphasize the monumental scale of pharaonic architecture. The palette of ochre, beige, and blue tones faithfully renders the appearance of sun-baked terracottas and the clarity of the Egyptian sky.

The original work was created by David Roberts during his journey in Egypt and Nubia around 1838. This British artist marked the history of travel illustration through his ability to combine topographical rigor with atmospheric rendering. This plate belongs to a major 19th-century encyclopedic corpus, aiming to document the vestiges of Antiquity for the European public of the time.

Intended for history and archaeology enthusiasts, this reproduction fits perfectly into a cabinet of curiosities or a collection of antique engravings. It allows for a detailed observation of Roberts' line work and classical composition, offering a precious visual testimony on the state of Egyptian sites prior to modern restoration campaigns.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/4730/2989/files/planche-ancienne-grande-entree-temple-louxor-david-roberts-30x40-cm.jpg?v=1777638881
https://www.berticdesigns.fr/en/products/antique-plate-grand-entrance-of-the-luxor-temple-david-roberts
