The image highlights intense red flowers with yellow centers, contrasting with green leaves with a downy finish. The graphic composition respects a rigorous visual hierarchy, capturing the specific texture of these flowers which retain their brilliance even after desiccation, a characteristic faithfully rendered by the original drawing.

Originally published in 1827 in the work Choix des plus belles fleurs, this plate testifies to Pierre-Joseph Redouté's expertise in the classification of exotic species. The species, native to the Cape of Good Hope and introduced into Europe at the end of the 18th century, is represented here with academic fidelity. The graphic style combines the softness of floral painting with the requirement of encyclopedic documentation typical of the Romantic era.

This reproduction of a vintage illustration is aimed at enthusiasts of natural history and ancient botany. Its utility value lies in its capacity to dress a space in an elegant and instructive manner. It can be collected for its documentary interest or used as a timeless decorative element, recalling the richness of southern flora discovered by 19th-century naturalists.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/4730/2989/files/illustration-botanique-astelma-eximium-redoute-42x59-4-cm-a2_f077e915-883b-4bb0-9f05-119b5fe95504.jpg?v=1790771201
https://www.berticdesigns.fr/en/products/astelma-eximium-botanical-illustration-by-pierre-joseph-redoute
