Séguy

This reproduction presents a decorative plate featuring purple grape bunches and broad jagged green leaves. The composition relies on a neutral beige background that highlights the red and dark tendrils intertwining between the fruits. The drawing offers a visual reading where the hierarchy of elements bears witness to research on the balance of colored masses and the strength of the naturalist line.

Taken from the album Samarkande published around 1920, this work by Émile-Allain Séguy illustrates the transition between Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Séguy uses the grapevine motif here to create a marked decorative rhythm, typical of ornamental collections from this period. The scientific intention fades in favor of a graphic stylization intended to inspire textile and wallpaper designers of the interwar period.

Intended for lovers of decorative arts, this reproduction finds its place in a vintage or contemporary interior. It can be collected for its documentary interest in the history of floral design. Its value lies in the precision of its composition and the richness of its chromatic palette.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/4730/2989/files/feuilles-vertes-et-grappes-violettes-samarkande-motifs-orientaux-par-emile-allain-seguy-42x59-4-cm-A2.jpg?v=1777734989
