The composition shows butterflies in shades of grey, brown, and red, with nuanced graphic textures and traditional black inscriptions. The hierarchy of visual elements highlights the complex structure of the wings.

The original artwork belongs to the Chō senshu collection, a major reference in Rimpa aesthetics. Sekka explores the formal variations of the butterfly with scientific precision and a strong decorative sense. Unlike promotional versions, this study focuses on the subtlety of earthy tones and the finesse of the outlines.

This documentary piece is well suited for a collection of historically inspired objects. It allows a close look at the Japanese composition technique, where void and solid balance each other to highlight an timeless naturalistic subject.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/4730/2989/files/mug-illustration-papillons-gris-marron-rouge-sekka-0.jpg?v=1790779597
