The illustration highlights vibrant flowers with red and yellow nuances, borne on robust stems furnished with luxuriant leaves. The iconographic analysis reveals a balanced composition, typical of Redouté's art, where the strength of the stroke makes it possible to distinguish every morphological detail of the plant native to the Cape of Good Hope.

The work is part of the collection Choix des plus belles fleurs, published in 1827, a pinnacle of 19th-century ornamental botany publishing. Pierre-Joseph Redouté, often nicknamed the "Raphael of flowers", deploys there his mastery of color and form to document the species introduced into European gardens. This historical plate perfectly illustrates the transition from the genus Bignonia to the genus Tecoma, reflecting the evolution of scientific knowledge of the era.

This ancient illustration suits everyone wishing to constitute a collection of reproductions of classic engravings. Used in wall decoration, it brings a note of historical sophistication. It lends itself just as well to traditional framing as to modern presentation, allowing one to celebrate the heritage of French scientific illustration.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/4730/2989/files/illustration-naturaliste-bignonia-capensis-redoute-42x59-4-cm-a2_76f2c228-a0ef-413c-b5ed-00f3196d91e1.jpg?v=1790771191
https://www.berticdesigns.fr/en/products/naturalist-illustration-bignonia-capensis-by-pierre-joseph-redoute
