Séguy

This reproduction of an ornamental plate comes from the collection Samarkande by Émile-Allain Séguy. The illustration presents a composition of motifs evoking exotic fruits, borne by sinuous stems. The daring chromatic palette combines shades of fuchsia and orange with cobalt blue accents on a contrasted background. The black outline emphasizes the graphic strength of the stylized plant elements in a visual harmony proper to the decorative arts.

Émile-Allain Séguy, a major artist of the Art Deco period between 1920 and 1926, designed these plates to renew the ornamental repertoire of the era. Inspired by oriental textiles, he uses the stenciling technique here to obtain vibrant flat tints of color. The style is characterized by a hybridization between naturalist observation and modern geometrization, typical of the aesthetics of the roaring twenties and the renewal of applied arts.

This antique illustration constitutes a precious testimony to the history of design and ornamentation of the early 20th century. As a decorative object, this reproduction allows the integration of an artistic archival piece into a contemporary interior. It is aimed at lovers of stylized botanical patterns and collectors of historical prints seeking compositions with marked decorative rhythms.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0824/4730/2989/files/planche-samarkande-fruits-exotiques-emile-allain-seguy-42x59-4-cm-A2.jpg?v=1777734895
