A yellow butterfly perched on one of the corollas creates a chromatic focal point, emphasizing the interaction between the plant and animal world in the illustration of the period.

Originally published in 1827 by Pierre-Joseph Redouté in his "Choix des plus belles fleurs", this illustration documents a plant that, at the time, was beginning to adorn European greenhouses. The precision in rendering the veins and petal texture testifies to the documentary demand of the collection.

This naturalist illustration is aimed at those who appreciate reproductions of ancient scientific works.
