The composition focuses on the structural details of the tests and radioles, using a sober palette of brown, white, and gray to render the mineral nature of these organisms.

Originally published in Charles d'Orbigny's Dictionnaire Universel d'Histoire Naturelle, this engraving bears witness to the advances in paleontology and zoology in the 19th century. The precision of the drawing makes it possible to distinguish living species from fossil forms, illustrating the comparative approach dear to naturalists. This scientific synthesis remains an example of the iconographic quality of the period.

This iconographic document is aimed at collectors and Earth science enthusiasts.
