Anatomical plate of the smooth barnacle by Charles d'Orbigny

This reproduction of a scientific poster illustrates the detailed anatomy of the smooth barnacle (Anatifa lævis). Taken from the Dictionnaire Universel d'Histoire Naturelle, the plate presents nine numbered figures displaying the peduncle, valves, and cirri of this cirripede crustacean. The sober color palette, composed of yellows, whites, and grays, emphasizes the precision of the technical drawing and the clarity of the original anatomical captions.

The original artwork, directed by Charles d'Orbigny in the mid-19th century, constitutes a major reference in scientific synthesis. This engraving bears witness to the meticulous work of illustrators in representing the biological complexity of marine invertebrates. The approach is purely descriptive, respecting the academic standards of the classification of the time and the heritage of Lamarck's work on aquatic species.

This iconographical document is intended for enthusiasts of marine biology and malacology. Used as wall decoration, this anatomical study brings a historical and erudite dimension to a collector's environment. It allows careful observation of complex organic structures as they were studied and documented by naturalists of the last century.
