This reproduction of an antique plate presents the coastal topography of northern Brittany, from Port-Crist (Plouescat) to the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. The illustration highlights emblematic elements such as the Sept-Îles and the Isle of Batz. The fineness of the line makes it possible to distinguish roadsteads, sandbanks, and rocky areas, characteristic of this wild and indented coastline.

Coming from the prestigious 1680 collection initiated by Jean-Baptiste Colbert, this map was drawn up by Louis-Nicolas de Clerville. It is part of a vast project to survey the coasts of the Kingdom, blending military precision with the art of engraving. The representation of low-tide water marks offers a valuable testimony to the hydrographic knowledge of the late 17th century.
