This reproduction of a historical maritime plate details the topography of the coasts of Brittany, from Port-Louis to the port of Audierne. The illustration includes major geographical landmarks such as the islands of Groix, the Glénan archipelago, as well as the islands of Moutons, Tudy, and Saint-Nom. The rigorous tracing of the low-water marks and sandbanks underlines the documentary value of this chromatic study in natural tones.

The illustration comes from the Recueil des cartes des costes maritimes du Royaume, a major work of 1680 commissioned by Colbert. Conceived by the engineer Louis-Nicolas de Clerville, this piece illustrates the excellence of French cartography under Louis XIV. It aimed to accurately inventory the roadsteads and channels for the security of the kingdom's sea routes.

This antique poster is aimed at collectors of historical documents and lovers of Breton iconography.
