This reproduction illustrates the Fragrant Peony (Pæonia Fragrans), a major botanical plate extracted from the work "Choix des plus belles fleurs" of 1827. The image focuses on the abundance of white petals and the presence of a floral bud ready to bloom, surrounded by dense foliage.
In this study, Pierre-Joseph Redouté demonstrates his expertise in rendering floral volumes and textures. Historically associated with Pæonia Moutan, this variety is represented here according to the standards of excellence of enhanced lithography, typical of 19th-century scientific iconography.
This illustration is aimed at collectors of historical documents and botany enthusiasts. It constitutes an elegant visual reference to enhance a living or study space with a touch of naturalist classicism.
