This reproduction of a botanical engraving highlights the slender gladiolus, or Gladiolus cuspidatus, a species native to the Cape of Good Hope. The illustration details the star-shaped, orange-tinted flowers and the distinctive central spots that characterize this exotic specimen.

Pierre-Joseph Redouté captures here the graphic elegance of the plant, marked by its slender stem and tapered petals. The original 1827 plate reflects the 19th-century growing interest in distant species introduced into European gardens, documented here with total scientific probity.

This naturalist poster constitutes an excellent support for the study of ancient plant forms. It brings both a scholarly and decorative atmosphere to living spaces, celebrating the art of scientific illustration through a careful reproduction of botanical heritage.
