This reproduction offers a delicate representation of the Bengal Tea Rose Hyménée, a variety of Rosa indica. The illustration is distinguished by a central white rose with pink-tinted buds, embellished by the unusual presence of two colorful butterflies. This composition by Pierre-Joseph Redouté underlines the link between flora and fauna in traditional naturalistic iconography.

Dating from 1827, this plate comes from the prestigious collection Choix des plus belles fleurs. Redouté exposes the subtle nuances between rose varieties, such as Rosa sinensis, with absolute scientific clarity. The work on the textures of the lepidopteran wings and the transparency of the petals demonstrate the illustrator's technical superiority in the art of enhanced lithography.

This antique illustration is an ideal choice for collectors of botanical art and lovers of entomology. It offers a poetic and precise reading of nature, typical of the great encyclopedic works of the French romantic period.
