The illustration highlights a flowering branch with purple hues, accompanied by precise anatomical diagrams of the plant. This work comes from the prestigious Dictionnaire Universel d'Histoire Naturelle, a major reference in 19th-century scientific illustration.
The project, led by Charles d'Orbigny between 1841 and 1849, aimed to document the diversity of living things with exceptional rigor. The engraving is distinguished by its execution finesse and academic composition, typical of the encyclopedic intention of the era. It testifies to the excellence of French naturalist lithography, combining rigorous observation and aesthetic value.
Ideal for collectors and botany enthusiasts, this reproduction allows contemplation of precious historical iconography. It finds its place in a modern cabinet of curiosities or as a complement to careful decoration. This plate invites careful observation of plant morphology through the eyes of yesteryear's naturalists.
