This reproduction presents a botanical plate of Erica, better known as Heather, from the prestigious 1827 collection by Pierre-Joseph Redouté. The illustration is distinguished by a delicate chromatic study blending shades of pink and green. The meticulous tracing underlines the fine structure of the floral bells and the narrow foliage characteristic of the species.
The editorial context of this work falls within Redouté's maturity period, where he focused on representing ornamental flora with absolute scientific precision. Identified as Erica fulgida, this species is native to the Cape of Good Hope. The plate reflects the growing interest of 19th-century botanists in southern flora and its classification.
This careful reproduction is aimed at collectors and lovers of naturalistic decoration. It allows one to rediscover the subtlety of Redouté's plates, offering a timeless aesthetic that values the precision of observational drawing and the harmony of ancient floral compositions.
