This reproduction presents a botanical plate by the artist Kōno Bairei, dedicated to a delicately pink peony. The composition highlights the blooming flower and its lush leaves with great precision. The chromatic study and the finesse of the drawing bear witness to the artist's mastery in naturalistic representation.
Kōno Bairei (1844-1895) was one of the great masters of the Meiji era kachō-ga (flowers and birds) print. His approach combined a quasi-scientific observation of flora and fauna with a traditional Japanese aesthetic. This peony illustration is a perfect example of his talent for capturing the beauty and vitality of the natural world.
Perfect for Japanese art collectors or enthusiasts of botanical illustrations, this reproduction brings a touch of refinement. It integrates with elegance into an interior seeking a touch of nature and poetry, whether displayed alone or as part of a wall composition.
