This reproduction faithfully represents a naturalist plate of the Pinot noir grape variety. The illustration highlights a dark and compact cluster, associated with a broad green leaf and a segment of a shoot. The visual analysis emphasizes the care given to the texture of the berries and the venation of the foliage, typical of ampelographic recognition plates.
The original image appears in the Traité général de viticulture by Pierre Viala and Victor Vermorel, edited between 1901 and 1910. This iconographic corpus is recognized for its major contribution to modern viticultural science. The graphic style favors descriptive clarity and chromatic accuracy, characteristics of scientific illustration from this period.
This plate is an ideal medium for observing the morphological characteristics of the grape. It is aimed at oenology enthusiasts wishing to acquire a quality reproduction of a historical document, allowing them to showcase wine heritage in an elegant and timeless way.
