This reproduction offers a historical view of the Hirakawa Gate, a major fortified architectural element of Japan. The plate details an imposing traditional gate overlooking a blue water canal, crossed by a wide wooden bridge. The twilight sky, with its orange hues, contrasts with the cold tones of the stone and the canal, while a few birds in flight complete this balanced composition.

The artist Hasui Kawase immortalized this monument by favoring an approach that emphasizes the majesty of ancient structures. This work is part of a documentary corpus aimed at preserving the image of Japan's built heritage in an era of rapid transformation. The rendering of textures and the frontal perspective accentuate the architectural testimony value of this print.

Intended for lovers of history and oriental heritage, this antique illustration finds its place in a library or a workspace. It offers a subject of contemplation rich in technical and aesthetic details. This reproduction helps showcase a fragment of Japanese urban and military history through a careful artistic gaze.
