Antique illustration of the temple of Wadi Kardassy in Nubia - David Roberts

This reproduction of a historical lithography illustrates the ruins of the temple of Wadi Kardassy in Nubia. The archaeological site is depicted surrounded by sand dunes, under a cloudy sky that reinforces the contemplative atmosphere of the scene. The precision of the line allows one to appreciate the details of the surviving columns and the architectural structure, carried by a palette of beige, blue, and earthy gray.

The original work is part of the important documentation work carried out by David Roberts between 1838 and 1839. His plates, published later, made it possible to introduce Europe to the lesser-known temples of Nubia. The representation of Wadi Kardassy emphasizes the fragility of these monuments in the face of sanding and time, capturing a precise historical state of archaeological rediscovery.

This plate is a choice piece for interior decoration inspired by exploration and the Orient. It is aimed at collectors of topographical views and lovers of ancient history. As a faithful reproduction of a master drawing, it offers both educational and decorative use value to enhance a space with refinement and erudition.
