This reproduction of a historical map accurately depicts the maritime coasts of Poitou, stretching from La Tranche-sur-Mer to the Saint-Sébastien area near Pornichet. The plate highlights the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier, central elements of this complex 17th-century coastal cartography.

Originally published in 1680 in the collection directed by Colbert, this work by Louis-Nicolas de Clerville served the maritime ambitions of Louis XIV's France. It presents a rich iconographical analysis, blending coastal topography, channel indications, and classical ornamentations such as wind roses.
