Drawn from a historical maritime corpus, it highlights the confluence with the Dordogne, revealing the river meanders and sedimentation zones characteristic of the Gironde estuary.

The original work comes from the "Recueil des cartes des costes maritimes du Royaume" published in 1680, under the aegis of Jean-Baptiste Colbert. Drawn by Louis-Nicolas de Clerville, this map testifies to the topographical rigor of the 17th century, combining strategic utility and the fineness of the engraved line, typical of the maritime administration of the era.
