This reproduction of a naturalistic plate highlights the rough-scaled death adder as well as the heads of two common vipers found in France, including the Pelias berus and the Aspic viper. Taken from the reference work on herpetology, the illustration presents precise anatomical details, notably front and profile views of the studied specimens.

Drawn from the general herpetology published by André-Marie-Constant Duméril between 1834 and 1840, this work is part of the great tradition of 19th-century scientific inventories. It reflects the documentary rigor of the period, aiming to classify solenoglyphs and vipers within a rigorous encyclopedic corpus.

Intended for enthusiasts of natural history and zoology, this antique poster is perfectly suited for a documentary collection or refined interior decoration. Its sober aesthetics and natural tones allow one to appreciate the finesse of scientific tracing while bringing a historical dimension to a space.
