Antique Plate of the Mourvèdre Grape Variety - Ampelography

This reproduction features a botanical plate dedicated to the Mourvèdre grape variety. The illustration, of great naturalist fidelity, presents a cluster with dark and dense grapes, accompanied by its leaf and a shoot fragment. The composition, inherited from Viala and Vermorel's Ampelography, is distinguished by the precision of the line and the subtlety of the chromatic nuances, capturing the characteristic aspect of this variety.

Extracted from the monumental ampelographic treatise published at the beginning of the 20th century, this print testifies to the scientific and artistic ambition of the era. The work of Pierre Viala and Victor Vermorel aimed to catalogue and document the world's grape varieties with unprecedented rigor. Each plate was designed as a precise identification tool, combining documentary value with a neat aesthetic, typical of scholarly publications of the Belle Époque.

Ideal for oenology enthusiasts, winemakers, or botany fans, this illustration can be observed for its didactic value or integrated into a sober decoration. This reproduction of a historical document invites the contemplation of graphic know-how placed at the service of French wine science.
