This reproduction illustrates the majestic portico of the Temple of Edfu, one of the best-preserved monuments of the Ptolemaic period. The view highlights the peristyle adorned with columns with floral capitals and walls covered with hieroglyphs, where the play of shadows emphasizes the depth and complexity of Egyptian architecture.

Taken from the collection "Egypt and Nubia," this work by David Roberts is the result of his 1838 journey. The artist records the state of the temple at a time when sand was still invading part of the interior structures, offering a documentary testimony on the archaeological rediscovery of Upper Egypt by European explorers.

This lithograph constitutes a refined decoration element for lovers of travelogues and ancient discoveries. Its graphic precision and balanced composition make it an object of contemplation on the artistic richness and durability of the Nilotic civilization.
