This print reproduction offers a high-angle view of Yatsukōji Street, a major thoroughfare in old Edo. The composition is animated by a daimyo procession and a crowd of townspeople crossing the urban space. The artist uses shades of ochre and blue to structure the road and sky, while the Kanda Shrine can be glimpsed in the background amid a light mist over the Kanda River.

Created in November 1857, this plate belongs to the corpus of "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" by Utagawa Hiroshige. It bears witness to the rigorous organization of public space under the Tokugawa shogunate. The masterful use of isometric perspective captures the scale of traffic and the architectural harmony of the traditional buildings surrounding the Sujikai Gate.

This illustration constitutes a remarkable historical document on urban life in Japan. It is particularly suited for enthusiasts of landscape history and ancient urban planning. The quality of the chromatic contrasts and the richness of human details make this reproduction a constant object of contemplation for any refined interior.
