Basidiomycete Mushrooms Plate - Ernst Haeckel

This faithful reproduction highlights various species of basidiomycete mushrooms, presented against a black background that enhances their organic silhouettes. The plate details the morphological variations of these organisms, ranging from branched forms to more compact structures, in a palette of greys and whites. The stark contrast reinforces the dramatic and scientific aspect of the composition.

The illustration is taken from Ernst Haeckel's iconic work, exploring the beauty of natural structures. Through his early 20th-century scientific lithographies, Haeckel sought to demonstrate that nature follows laws of quasi-artistic symmetry. These works greatly influenced the Art Nouveau movement through their aesthetic vision of complex biological forms.

Perfect for enriching a natural history collection, this reproduction of a mycological plate is suitable for science enthusiasts and minimalist decors. It offers a historical perspective on the classification of living things while remaining a strong visual piece, capable of fitting into a modern cabinet of curiosities or an elegant interior space.
