This white ceramic mug features a reproduction of a natural history plate dedicated to butterflies, designed by Kamisaka Sekka. The composition displays deep blue butterflies highlighted with touches of gold, accompanied by Japanese calligraphy. This chromatic study reflects the strength of line and the graphic rigor of the original motif.

The illustration comes from the collection Chō senshu (One Thousand Butterflies), published in 1903. A major figure of the Rimpa movement in Kyoto, Kamisaka Sekka revisited the heritage of Japanese decorative arts in the early 20th century through a poetic stylization of nature.

Designed for daily use during coffee or tea time, this mug accompanies your breaks with a touch of Japanese aesthetics. It is also an ideal gift for lovers of Japanese art and botanical or zoological motifs.
