This reproduction presents a series of butterflies with blue and white wings, organized in a circular dynamic evoking a scroll. Taken from the work Chō senshu, the composition plays on repetition and movement to transform the naturalist subject into a complex graphic motif.

The artist Kamisaka Sekka uses the codes of the Rimpa movement to stylize the lepidoptera, favoring clear chromatic contrasts against a beige background. The work, dating from 1903, reflects the period's interest in the fusion of natural forms and ornamental structures.

This plate is an exquisite piece for a collection focused on entomology or Japanese decorative art. It lends itself to careful observation of the hierarchy of forms and brings a historical and artistic dimension to any study space.
