This antique reproduction features the Chinese primrose (Primula sinensis). The illustration delicately depicts a stem laden with pink flowers and buds, capturing the fragility of the petals and the particular structure of the foliage of this species introduced in 1820.
The work is signed by Pierre-Joseph Redouté, an illustrator renowned for his exceptionally precise botanical plates. This plate, published in 1827, testifies to the fascination of 19th-century botanists with the new species decorating the temperate greenhouses of Europe.
This refined floral illustration is a choice piece for careful interior decoration. It invites the contemplation of nature and celebrates the graphic expertise of one of the greatest masters of the genre.
