This art reproduction is a botanical plate from the work of Kōno Bairei, dedicated to lisichiton (skunk cabbage) flowers. The illustration delicately depicts the plant's characteristic purple spathes and broad green leaves. The composition, centered on the subject, and the neutral beige background highlight the shape and color of the flower with great clarity.
Kōno Bairei (1844-1895) was one of the masters of kacho-ga (flowers and birds) printmaking during the Meiji era. His approach combined scientific rigor in the representation of species with a typically Japanese artistic sensitivity. His works were both botanical documents and aesthetic creations.
This poster is intended for botany enthusiasts, collectors of antique illustrations, and those seeking an elegant and instructive floral decorative touch. It fits perfectly into a sober decor or a cabinet of curiosities.
