Botanical Plate Kentia Belmoreana (Grisebachia)

This reproduction of an antique botanical plate depicts Kentia Belmoreana, an endemic species of Lord Howe Island. The illustration highlights the gracefully arching fronds and the regularly arranged, glossy green leaflets on a slender trunk. The work of P. De Pannemaker captures the distinction between this species and other Kentia varieties, offering a detailed view of its characteristic habit.

The illustration is taken from the collection "Palmiers, histoire iconographique" published in 1878. Under the direction of Oswald de Kerchove de Denterghem, this work aimed to document the major botanical discoveries of the century, particularly those made by Baron F. von Müller. The lithographic style of the period allows for a faithful restitution of plant morphology, essential for horticultural identification in the 19th century.

This iconographic document is ideal for those wishing to build a cabinet of botanical curiosities. The precision of the reproduction pays tribute to the craftsmanship of naturalist illustrators of the Victorian era. It brings a historical and scientific touch to any space dedicated to the study or contemplation of plant forms.
