Botanical Plate Lathyrus Odoratus (Sweet Pea) by Redouté

This reproduction of a botanical plate illustrates the Lathyrus Odoratus, more commonly known as the Sweet Pea. The document highlights the fineness of the twining stems and the characteristic structure of the inflorescences. This naturalist study focuses on the plant's morphology, offering a clear reading of its physical attributes in the sober and precise style of 19th-century illustrated herbaria.

Produced by the illustrator Pierre-Joseph Redouté for his 1827 collection, this plate documents a species whose origin, although debated, is often linked to East India or Ceylon. Redouté's line here captures the essence of this herbaceous plant long cultivated in European gardens, respecting a visual hierarchy that facilitates botanical analysis while retaining timeless graphic elegance.

This reproduction is ideal for collectors of ancient scientific documents or to enhance thematic decoration centered around botany. It allows one to contemplate the work of a master in the art of botanical lithography, while bringing a historical and documentary dimension to any living or working space.
