This reproduction of a botanical plate finely illustrates Strobilanthes sabiniana. The plate details the purple flowering and foliage of the plant, accompanied by analytical diagrams of its reproductive organs. This document is extracted from the Dictionnaire Universel d'Histoire Naturelle, a precious testimony of 19th-century botanical exploration.
The work, directed by Charles d'Orbigny, reflects the spirit of the era when botany was a foundational discipline. The intention was to provide a complete chromatic and structural study to facilitate the identification of exotic species. The delicate line and fidelity of colors make this engraving a reference work in the history of plant illustration.
This ancient floral illustration is aimed at enthusiasts of botany and horticultural art. Its didactic structure allows for an erudite contemplation of plant morphology. It integrates harmoniously into a nature-inspired decoration or an office, offering a touch of historical refinement linked to major naturalist expeditions.
