Botanical Plate of the Belgnino-Nebbiolo Grape, Viala & Vermorel Ampelography

This reproduction presents an ampelographic study of the Belgnino-Nebbiolo grape variety, extracted from the monumental treatise by Viala and Vermorel. The illustration focuses on a cluster of black grapes with purplish reflections, rendered with great scientific precision. The composition also includes the characteristic foliage, whose green and yellow hues testify to rigorous naturalist observation, typical of early 20th-century encyclopedic plates.

The Ampélographie, published between 1901 and 1910 under the direction of Pierre Viala and Victor Vermorel, is a reference work in the field of viticulture. This treatise aimed to catalogue and describe thousands of grape varieties worldwide. Each plate, like this one, combines scientific rigor with neat aesthetics, making these illustrations precious documents on the history of oenology and botanical illustration.

This print is aimed at oenology amateurs, botanical print collectors, and those wishing to decorate their interior with an authentic historical document. It naturally finds its place in a cellar, a dining room, or an office, bringing a cultural and scientific dimension to the space thanks to the quality of its graphic details and naturalist rendering.
