Botanical Plate of the Ram's Horn Aloe - Charles d'Orbigny

This reproduction of a 19th-century botanical plate illustrates the Ram's horn aloe, accompanied by precise analytical details. The central subject is completed by cross-sections of the flower, fruit, and transverse sections, allowing a comprehensive understanding of the plant's structure. The chromatic study, playing on shades of green and orange, highlights the vigor of the plant silhouette and the finesse of the reproductive organs.

The original document comes from the Dictionnaire Universel d'Histoire Naturelle by Charles d'Orbigny, published in the 1840s. This editorial corpus is famous for the exceptional quality of its color-enhanced steel engravings. The plate is part of a tradition of scientific illustration where pedagogical intent is coupled with aesthetic research characteristic of the naturalist movement of the Romantic era.

This antique illustration is particularly suitable for botany enthusiasts and nature-inspired decor lovers. It can be observed for its academic value or integrated into a set of antique reproductions to create an atmosphere of a historical greenhouse or a wall herbarium. Its graphic clarity and vibrant colors make it a major piece of scientific contemplation.
