This reproduction of a botanical plate of the Raspberry illustrates with scientific rigor the characteristic red fruits and serrated foliage of the shrub. From the collection Choix des plus belles fleurs, this naturalistic illustration highlights the structure of the plant through a precise line and a careful chromatic study of the ripe berries.
The original work, published in 1827 by Pierre-Joseph Redouté, is part of the tradition of the great 19th-century encyclopedic publications. Redouté, nicknamed the "Raphael of flowers," displays his mastery of engraving to document flora with both an aesthetic and documentary intention, capturing the essence of the species cultivated in the gardens of the time.
This poster is suitable for collectors of naturalistic iconography and lovers of classical botanical art. It allows for the observation of the fine morphological details of the raspberry while providing historical testimony on the evolution of French scientific illustration.
