Botanical Plate Rosa Gallica Aurelianensis by Pierre-Joseph Redouté

This reproduction illustrates Rosa Gallica Aurelianensis, a French rose variety of great elegance. The plate depicts with exemplary meticulousness the blooming of the pink corollas, the complex structure of the floral buds, and the precise serration of the leaves. The visual balance between the shades of pink and the tender greens underlines the quality of the original naturalist observation, restoring the fleshy aspect and delicacy of this historical species.

Extracted from the work Choix des plus belles fleurs published in 1827, this work is signed by Pierre-Joseph Redouté. The author, nicknamed the "Raphael of flowers", deploys all his know-how to immortalize the horticultural collections of the time. Rosa Gallica, ancestor of many modern roses, is presented here in a style that combines taxonomic fidelity and artistic harmony, characteristic of the great publishing enterprises of the early 19th century.

This illustration constitutes a reference document for amateurs of botanical art and garden history. It lends itself particularly well to enhancement within a print collection or as a central piece of careful decoration. Its contemplation recalls the importance of the rose in the French horticultural imagination and the enduring nature of the classical naturalist style.
