This plate is a reproduction of a botanical illustration depicting a camellia, the work of artist Kōno Bairei. The composition highlights flowers with pink and white shades alongside dense green leaves, illustrating the rigor of the Japanese naturalist stroke. Each bud and each vein is rendered with a clarity typical of scientific chromatic study.

Kōno Bairei contributed to the dissemination of botanical knowledge through his prints in the late 19th century. This work is part of a tradition where art serves as a support for the study of the plant world, combining the graphic elegance of the Shijō school of painting with a desire for accuracy specific to encyclopedic works of the Meiji era.

This reproduction is intended for lovers of botany and classical floral art. Through its informative character and neat aesthetics, it can be integrated into a collection of natural history plates or used for the observation of plant forms in a documentary setting.
