This reproduction of a naturalist engraving depicts the transparency and organic complexity of ctenophores (Ctenophorae). The illustration portrays organisms such as Hormiphora, revealing the delicacy of filaments and gelatinous structures in shades of blue, green, and gray, typical of period marine iconography.

The original work belongs to Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur corpus, published at the turn of the 20th century. By isolating these marine creatures on a scientific plane, Haeckel revealed previously unknown forms whose organic elegance served as a visual reference for Art Nouveau architects and artists.

This antique plate is ideal for enriching a collection of naturalist images or for bringing a note of marine serenity to an interior. It testifies to the encounter between rigorous biological observation and an artistic vision of underwater nature.
