This reproduction of a naturalist plate presents the fern Cystopteris dentata, from the precursor works of botanist Anna Atkins. The image captures the delicate silhouette of the fronds through the historical cyanotype process, offering a striking contrast between the vegetable white and the deep Prussian blue background characteristic of this 19th-century technique.
Produced between 1843 and 1853, this work is part of the pioneering book Photographs of British Algae. Anna Atkins uses the photogram technique there to document flora with unprecedented scientific precision, thus marking the history of photography and botanical illustration through the direct imprint of the specimen on sensitive paper.
Ideal for lovers of botanical art and the history of science, this print brings a touch of minimalist elegance to a wall collection. Its vintage aesthetic and documentary rigor make it a unique object of contemplation, perfectly suited for a refined interior seeking to celebrate natural heritage.
