This reproduction illustrates the Depressed Fruit Orange Tree, a specific variety of Citrus Aurantium. Extracted from the work "Choix des plus belles fleurs" published in 1827, Pierre-Joseph Redouté's plate details the fruits, white flowers, and dense foliage of the citrus. The contrasts between bright orange and deep green mark this naturalistic study.

The work reflects Redouté's encyclopedic intention, aiming to catalog the most remarkable specimens of his era. The precision of the drawing allows the analysis of the morphology of the "depressed" fruit, characteristic of this mutation. The sober style and clarity of the layout are typical of 19th-century botanical lithography, combining science and art.

This antique illustration is ideal for decorating a space with a classic naturalistic subject. It is aimed at amateurs of pomology and history of science, offering a lasting visual testimony of Redouté's work on citrus fruits.
