Ernst Haeckel Spiroid Radiolarians Plate

This reproduction presents a scientific plate dedicated to spiroids, a category of radiolarians with complex siliceous skeletons. Taken from the collection Kunstformen der Natur, the illustration reveals the incredible diversity of these marine microorganisms. The drawing highlights the finesse of the geometric structures and the repetition of patterns that characterize these unicellular organisms.

Ernst Haeckel, through his work at the end of the 19th century, captured the essence of microscopic life with unmatched precision. This plate testifies to his talent for transforming a biological observation into a structured work of art. The influence of these radiated forms can also be found in numerous architectural and ornamental motifs of the Art Nouveau movement.

Ideal for an iconographic collection or sober wall decoration, this antique illustration celebrates the beauty of the infinitely small. It offers a fascinating look at marine biology and the history of naturalistic illustration. The clarity of the lines and the neutrality of the grey and white tones facilitate its integration into various environments.
