French Riviera Sainte-Maxime - Roger Broders - 1928 - Vintage poster

This antique poster reproduction illustrates Sainte-Maxime on the French Riviera, created by the artist Roger Broders in 1928. The plate presents a stylized coastal view where sailing boats with orange sails cruise on an azure sea, framed by palm trees and the steep coast of the Maures. This iconic composition for the PLM company uses flat areas of bright colors and simplified shapes characteristic of the era.

Roger Broders is a central figure of Art Deco tourist posters, known for his ability to synthesize landscapes into elegant geometric structures. The work captures the spirit of Mediterranean seaside resorts of the interwar period, emphasizing light and nautical leisure. The contrast between the bright red sails and the deep blue of the water creates a powerful visual impact, inviting escape.
