This reproduction presents the Gaboon viper, a reptile species, as illustrated in the work "Erpétologie générale ou Histoire naturelle complète des reptiles" by André-Marie-Constant Duméril. The plate offers various views of the animal, notably of its head.

The illustration dates from the 1834-1840 period and fits into the tradition of French scientific encyclopedias. It reflects the interest in classification and meticulous description of animal species during that era.

Intended for collectors of scientific prints and wildlife enthusiasts, this reproduction can serve as a decorative piece that is both informative and aesthetic, recalling the golden age of naturalist illustration.
