This reproduction presents an ornament plate by Émile-Allain Séguy from the collection Samarkand (1920). On a gold background, stylized red and black floral motifs intertwine with green scrolls evoking waves or moving natural elements.

The illustration reflects the influence of Asian arts on the French Art Deco style. Séguy reinterprets these iconographic codes through an ascending composition, playing on the chromatic contrast between the metallic background and the depth of reds and blacks.

This documentary plate illustrates the fusion capacity of oriental influences and Western modernity. It constitutes a precious source for understanding the evolution of decorative taste and the pursuit of sophistication in the applied arts of the interwar period.
