This reproduction of a print by Katsushika Hokusai depicts the locality of Hodogaya on the historic Tōkaidō road. The foreground features imposing pine trees framing the view of Mount Fuji in the distance. Travelers on foot and in palanquins bring life to this hilly landscape in shades of brown, blue, and green.

Published as part of the monumental series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji around 1830, this engraving illustrates Hokusai's modern approach to depicting travel. The expressive line work and dynamic composition reflect the renewal of landscape in Japanese printmaking.

This antique illustration can be integrated into a decoration focused on history or travel. It allows for the study of the hierarchy of visual elements and the precision of detail characteristic of 19th-century ukiyo-e iconography.
